                    A cult is a cult

In recent times, I have observed that in an effort to explain the foolish behaviour of those persons who voted for the A.L.P. during the last general elections, some persons have concluded that the A.L.P. is a cult.

When I observe the behaviour of the A.L.P. supporters, I realize that their behaviour is no different from that of those who support the Westminster system of government.

The opinions of Labour Party supporters are not the result of rational reasoning, neither are the opinions of those who support the Westminster system. The past experiences and observations of individual members of both groups are invalid if they conflict with accepted beliefs.

Both groups believe what they are told rather than trust their common sense, their own thinking, and their own observations. Their opinions cannot be influenced by facts. They avoid honest, intelligent discussion of the issues, and they discourage independent thought.
