My name is Rupert Henry, I was born on the 24th of April 1948. For as long as I can remember I have never been satisfied with been told to do something because that is how it is done or should be done. I have always wanted to know why. For the past forty years I have been actively involved in the politics of Antigua and Barbuda. Most of that time I did what almost everyone who is actively involved in politics does I fought on “this side” against “that side”. Then about fifteen years ago I realized Antiguans and Barbudans were fighting against each other and as a result we were unable to realize our full potential. I also realized that the way our political system was designed the war would never end. For years I have made suggestions for changing the system to bring an end to the fighting, but for reasons that I do not know, those who could end the war do not want it to end. Because of this I have decided to do what I can to end the fighting and unite our people. This news letter is a part of that effort. I hope that it |

will help to create an environment where information and ideas can flow freely, where agreement will be sought but understanding will be accepted. I have also set up a website www.allsaintcommunity.com where anyone can post ideas comments or suggestions. In addition to that I have purchased a low power fm transmitter with a range of six miles to set up a radio station for our community. Before the general elections the Prime Minister promised our representative, Hon. Chanlah Codrington that after the elections he would give us a license to operate the station. After the elections he changed his mind, claiming that because Hon. Chanlah Codrington now has a ministry giving us a license would create a conflict of interest. I don’t see any difference between the people of All Saints West owning a radio station and the UPP owning a radio station except that whereas they use their station to verbally abuse members of the ALP, we would use our station to uplift our community.
Stop following others blindly! |
